Found an awesome article about Kate and her experience so far as a juror at the Cannes Film Festival.
On the drizzly red carpet outside Cannes’ black-tie opening night party, red-suited attendants held umbrellas over celebrities’ heads as they made their way into the packed ballrooms of the Hotel Majestic. Inside, by a heaping dessert table, Benicio del Toro chatted in a corner with Gael Garcia Bernal, Tim Burton told us the Cannes experience had been “a strange trip” already, and a conspicuous scrum of tuxedo-ed bystanders pretended to not be staring at Kate Beckinsale, Croisette-glamorous in a short gold dress and a sweeping updo. We spoke with the Cannes competition jury member about her approach to judging, and she recalled her first time at Cannes, when she “wore steel-toe-capped Dr. Martens on the red carpet” and just hoped she “didn’t have stains” on her clothes.
Is there a certain type of film you’re hoping to promote here at Cannes?
What’s been very nice from the beginning is that Tim’s been very clear that none of us are going in with an agenda. We’re not looking for a political film, necessarily — or anything. We’re all looking forward to going in and seeing what it is. That’s what’s nice about the group — it’s only been two days, but so far nobody seems to have a really strong agenda. Everyone’s waiting to be surprised and moved. (Click here to read more…)

For years, Absolut vodka featured the works of famous artists and photographers in its advertising campaign. Now, the brand is turning to two actors to promote drinks made with Absolut.
Kate Beckinsale and Zooey Deschanel will be featured in Absolut ads to be introduced on Thursday at a party in New York. The ads are part of a campaign by the New York office of TBWA/Chiat/Day, part of the TBWA Worldwide unit of the Omnicom Group.
In keeping with an Absolut tradition, the ads are being photographed by a well-known fashion shutterbug, Ellen Von Unwerth.
The ads carry the theme “Every drink is an exceptional experience,” extending a recent campaign for Absolut that carries the theme “Doing things differently leads to something exceptional.”
All the ads are part of an ongoing effort to portray what TBWA/Chiat/Day calls “an Absolut world” of special, offbeat or unusual events, people and things.
Among the drinks featured in the ads are the Absolut Bloody Mary, the Absolut Cosmopolitan and the Absolut Crush (made with fresh-squeezed juice).
The ads may represent the first time that actors have appeared in an Absolut campaign. The brand, sold in this country by Pernod Ricard USA, is planning in the new year to introduce ads in collaboration with the director Spike Jonze.
Ms. Deschanel, who is also a musician, is also featured in a campaign for Cotton Inc.

As L.A.’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) celebrated its 30th anniversary, Kate Beckinsale marked yet another victory on the red, or rather, pink carpet.
Between her dark, smoky makeup and the teal color of the Andrew Gn gown, the actress’s eyes were mesmerizing. And it literally looked as if the designer had draped the dress on her perfectly toned body minutes before she arrived at the event. The statement diamond earrings and simple updo were the perfect styling finishes.

Here are some news about Everybody’s Fine premiere.
Now hear this: Kirk Jones’ “Everybody’s Fine,” which stars Robert De Niro as a widower who embarks on a road trip to reconnect with his grown children (Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell) after the death of his wife, will premiere at the AFI Fest 2009 on Nov. 3 at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. No word on whether reps of the picture, a remake of Giuseppe Tornatore’s “Stanno Tutti Bene,” will hand out handkerchiefs at the screening, but De Niro and Beckinsale are expected to attend. Pete Hammond has already pegged the flick as one to keep an eye on this awards season.
The fest has also announced its selections for the New Lights Competition, which pays tribute to first- and second-time directors. Among the films in this year’s lineup is Oren Moverman’s wartime drama “The Messenger,” with Woody Harrelson; “Northless,” from Mexico’s Rigoberto Perezcano, and “Police, Adjective,” the winner of the Cannes Un Certain Regard jury prize.
